Let's talk about Canvas

Updated: Nov 6, 2023

My images, when printed as Giclée gallery canvas prints are produced using a blend of high-definition inkjet printing and quality canvas. My image is printed onto the canvas that is then stretched over a frame. This process, which is called a gallery-wrap, allows for the image to be printed using the highest quality inkjet ink on material made up from mixed polyester-cotton fabric.

The printed canvas is then stretched onto 2” (50mm) knot Free, kiln dried plantation timber stretcher bars. Using Supercoat, a tough UV resistant coating and standard or mirror wrap, to preserve and protect my stunning images. Canvas prints come ready to hang but can also be displayed in a floating wooden frame. Unframed canvas prints have no distractions with the print taking all the attention but for a more classic interior style, a floating wooden frame around your stretched canvas creates that classic look.

Why canvas?

Canvas prints evoke an artistic feel. This is because they’re similar in appearance to oil and acrylic paintings. My Giclée gallery canvas prints are a beautiful and simple way to add style to every space. These amazing, archival quality prints make for stylish additions to any living area or wall space around your home or office. They offer versatility for different interior decors and are one of my favourite ways to display my photography, whether framed or unframed.

Giclée canvas is archive quality, built to stand the test of time. They have a fabulous matte finish and are glass and matt free, ensuring that reflections from light sources are never an issue. One of the main advantages of displaying with canvas is never having to contend with glare and reflections. With any framed print behind glass, there is the chance that light from various sources could impact the viewing quality of the displayed print. If your glass frames are keeping you from seeing your photos in the best possible way, Giclée canvas could be a great alternative. Giclée canvas prints are covered in a UV protective coating that protects my images from fading, discolouration, and wear. Prints can be viewed from any angle in any lighting situation without reflections ruining your view.

You can go extra-large with canvas prints with no noticeable degradation in image quality. My images can be printed onto large wall-sized canvas prints that will fill almost any blank space. So, if you are looking to add some style to a large blank wall, you can do it with Giclée canvas without worrying too much about size. Weight is also less of an issue. Large, framed pieces of artwork covered in glass, can be very heavy. Not all interior walls are designed to support massive frames and heavy glass. Canvas prints are amazingly lightweight without losing any quality. This makes pictures easy to hang and absolutely stunning to look at. That means less weight on your walls and even less weight on you when installing one of my fine-art pieces. This also means the cost of glass and frame doesn’t have to be factored into the price of canvas prints making them more economical, cost wise.

Canvas prints come ready to hang and are durable while remaining great value for money.
